Point 2 Point. Same amazing course. Same Labor Day weekend date. New race management.
The Park City Point 2 Point is transitioning to new management. We are happy to announce that Utah based Intermountain Cup will be taking the handlebars of P2P starting with the 2027 event which will take place on September 4th. Point 2 Point is a top-notch well organized event that has maintained a very local feel since its founding in 2009.
“Park City has some of the best single-track around, early on it was important to feature these trails and help drive town visitation. As the event, and tourism, grew, it became clear that a world class event that maintained a true local vibe was most important,” said founder Jay Burke.
Based in St. George Utah, Intermountain Cup’s mission is to inspire joy through the adventure of biking. They organize Endurance and Cross-Country races all across Utah from the red-rock desert to the high alpine mountains. “We couldn’t be happier to find a better fit to carry P2P forward”, says Steve Aderholt, the current Race Director. Steve has been directing P2P the past 3 years and was involved as Co-Race Director for 3 years before that. “It has been amazing to be part of this event for the past 6 years but I want to make sure P2P gets the focus that it deserves. Curtis and Ryan at I-Cup are good guys, great race directors, and they know how important P2P is to the Park City and Utah mountain biking community”. Steve organizes the Cocodona 250 running race in Arizona, which has grown exponentially the past 6 years. “Cocodona growth has taken more and more of my time and eventually that would have caused P2P to suffer. I-Cup will bring more time, focus, and energy to P2P and we couldn’t be happier with the transition.”
The P2P concept originally came together when Park City resident Jay Burke saw the burgeoning popularity of 100-mile MTB races like the Pennsylvania Wilderness 101 and Leadville 100, and he knew Park City had the potential to rival them. Burke states, “There was another endurance bike event in Park City at the time, it was 100 miles and used many trails multiple times. My vision was for a true point to point race that I felt would provide a truly epic day for riders. The goal was to never repeat the same trail twice”. In 2009 he put those thoughts into action with the inaugural 75-mile event with 148 entrants participating. Flash forward 18 years, the event now sells out within minutes, and while the trails and some details have evolved, the essence of camaraderie and exhilaration remain a cornerstone of the event. Each Labor Day weekend, mountain bike riders of all varieties converge upon Park City, drawn by the promise of premier singletrack and the chance to forge lasting bonds amid plenty of dirt and sweat.
Registration for the September 4th 2027 event will take place this winter (details coming soon).
So as the 2027 edition unfolds, I-Cup will be steering the Park City Point 2 Point into a new and exciting chapter for the event. Participants can rest assured that the event logistics will be dialed in, the course will be as grueling and amazing as always, and the spirit of adventure and community will continue to thrive at the annual Park City Point 2 Point.
